Bridges

A bridge is a non-removable replacement for missing teeth which is attached to neighboring teeth and/or dental implants.

Benefits

  • Restores aesthetics and function
  • Aids in chewing and speaking
  • Prevents shifting of remaining natural teeth
  • Does not require removal from the mouth for cleaning like dentures

Risks

  • The usual risks associated with local anesthetic or other medications
  • The same risks associated with crowns
  • Remaining teeth may shift or tip, causing periodontal or occlusal (bite) problems
  • Opposing teeth may over-erupt which may cause periodontal or bite problems
  • Inability to chew food adequately
  • Lack of aesthetics and phonetics
  • Possible TMJ (jaw joint) problems
